She was in it and she won it!

Back in July, CPUK were invited to put on a display for a Peugeot UK Employee Day in Coventry where our Pre-War Registrar, Janette Horton invested in a number of raffle tickets and was lucky enough to win the use of a 208 GTi for the weekend.  She tells us about her experience:

"What a surprise!  A 208 GTI for a weekend!!  Who says raffle tickets never win?!

We collected the 208GTI from Peugeot HQ at Pinley House Coventry and after settling into the car my initial driving impressions were

• Light steering despite the 208 having a smaller steering wheel than I am used to in my 206 CC
• Everything adjustable to give optimum driving position and visibility for instruments and driving
• Extra digital speedo
• Conventional handbrake
• Very Stylish

The 1.6 litre Turbo gives outstanding acceleration, 0-60 being quoted at 6.8 seconds.  The 17” alloy wheels are fitted with low profile tyres but nevertheless give a comfortable ride on our not so well maintained English roads. The brakes are up-rated with larger discs (ventilated at the front) and red callipers whilst road-holding is enhanced by slightly wider track front and rear. Parking sensors are fitted together with a bluetooth facility which replaces the CD player.

We enjoyed driving the car over a long weekend on mixed urban and motorway roads in Northamptonshire and Lancashire, with an overall petrol consumption of approx 41 miles per gallon.  The acceleration was great fun but you do have to keep your eye on the speedo…perhaps that is why they fit two!"

The Peugeot 208GTI definitely ticked all the boxes for Janette and her experience confirms the saying "You have to be in it to win it"
