Panizzi join Historic Morocco Rally

Panizzi brothers to drive 504 Coupe in Historic Morocco Rally

Winner of the 2013 Historic Morocco Rally driving his Peugeot 504 convertible V6-Group V, François Lethier wanted to find an established driver to enter his FYL Racing Team into more high level historic rallies.

1st Event: the Historic Morocco Rally (May 16th to 24th 2014)
Francois has managed to convince Gilles and Herve Panizzi to participate in this great adventure. The famous duo will compete for the first time in a historic rally. A very tough first test as it is known for its route through the Atlas Mountains and the Moroccan stages are known for their “car breaking” reputation.
Four 504 are entered, 2 in Group V and 2 in Group III with the ambition to win the event in both classes.

Departure from Marrakech, on 16th May:
•  François Lethier - Patrice Zurro
• Gilles and Herve Panizzi
• Fabien Orengo (youngest driver on the event) co-driver by Thibault de la Haye (official co-driver of Sebastien Chardonnet)
• Jacques Poulain (Moroccan stage specialist) - Gerard Donnet

The team tested on 1st and 2nd April at the Jean-Yves Metge’s circuit located near Sauve for an upgrade session, particularly to the axles and suspension. Gilles Panizzi, François Lethier and Fabien Orengo ran in order to help the engineers and mechanics maximum feedback on the car`s performance.

“We realize during a session as this one, confided François Lethier that everybody has different adjustments to make to each car to make it more suited to the individual driver".

Gilles Panizzi reported, “The car is excellent, we had an excellent session, we tried several configurations and I shared a lot of information with the team about the car. The car will be ready by May 16th “.

François Lethier, racing driver and historic rally driver, was most successful in rally raid where he was noticed by Jean-Louis Schlesser who gave him a job within team " Schlesser Adventures".  It’s with this team that Francois is most well known gaining exceptional results versus the work drivers with a podium in the Africa Race.
It is therefore quite natural that he moved towards the historical events creating the FYL Racing Team.
