This year’s NEC Classic Car show held over the three days of 13th to 15th November turned out to be the most successful ever for CPUK. Over the three days we attracted many, many visitors onto our stand in Hall 5 which led to us gaining 15 new members beating our previous record by 5! On the stand we had the Lion VA of John Horton, a Peugeot 204 Cabriolet belonging to John Hepner, the works 205 T16 (B555 SRW) belonging to Peugeot UK, the every rare 205 GTI Classic which was a special edition for the Australian market only. This car is owned by Rob King & Ian Helme and was recently imported to the UK from Oz. With the aid of modern technology Ian & Rob were able to track the ships using an App and watch the ship live going through the Panama Canal via a webcam. We had a Peugeot 504 V6 Cabriolet , Peugeot J7 Pick up and the display was rounded off with a very nice Peugeot racing bicycle from the 70`s. I was a bit concerned initially about our position being next to the Wheeler Dealers live stage and opposite the Sporting Bears. The Wheeler Dealers because of the potential noise and Sporting Bears because of the potential cold because they go in and out of the hall. I need not have worried as neither was a problem the whole weekend The build-up and breakdown days are amazing to watch, one for the meticulous way the show is put together and the other for the quickness that it’s all dismantled! During the show we saw lots of Club members on our stand which was good to see. Overall the show cemented itself as one of the top three shows in Europe with a record 65.000 visitors over the three days. The variation and quality of cars and stands was outstanding with many visitors I spoke to saying that they were exhausted just trying to get around. There were loads of visitors from abroad and if they do not tinker with the format in the future this show will go from “strength to strength” (excuse the pun!) My thanks go to everyone who helped on the set up day. manned the stand during the three days of the show and lent us their cars for display. In closing if this is something that may be of interest to any of you either lending us your car or helping out on the stand then please let me know
