Coventry Motofest

Coventry Motofest, Coventry City Centre, Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th June 2016.

From its inception in 2014, Coventry Motofest gets bigger and better each year, showcasing the long history of motor manufacturing in the city. It is an amazing, fun, free motoring based festival for the the whole family. Cars, motorcycles, live music, trucks, buses, films, stock cars, armoured vehicles, taxis, art, stalls, design, education, prototypes, engineering, and even some bicycles take part. In short, if it’s got something to do with transport, has a connection to the City of Coventry and probably involves an engine in some way, it’ll be here. There's always so much going on, and quite simply everything is free to attend. With numerous car club displays, a calvacade and the proposal to close the city ring road on the Sunday to allow time trials and invitation demonstration drives, this event is a must, not only for members in the Midlands but from much further afield as well. This year was another great year at Coventry Motofest, with a small but enthusiastic band of members bringing their cars along and supporting Peugeot on their stand once again. PSA group had a much bigger presence with the biggest area in the best location right over the ring road sprint track. Club members Liam Kelly and his wife Kelly brought their 405 Mi16 project car and brilliant 306 GTi6 with a BTCC engine along, as well as tons of enthusiasm for both Peugeot and Coventry. Both new member Taye Riley with his lovely 205 Roland Garros and Chris Clements with his stunning 206 GTi180 brought their cars along for the whole weekend and joined us in person for the Sunday, alongside my 304 Cabriolet. It was good to see Neil James and his 205 Mardi Gras for the one day on Saturday. All in a good turnout and varsity of cars, with several Coventry built cars represented. An enjoyable weekend was had viewing the various classics parked in the city centre, along with all the action on the ring road - the new Aston Martin Vulcan was quite a sight to see and hear running on the ring road, and it was great to see James Grint getting his Peugeot 208 rallycross car sideways on the track! There were plenty of attractions with live music, beer tents as well as the various motoring attractions from many manufacturers and dealers. We are planning to return again next year, when it promises to be bigger and better.
