Richard Burns dies

Former world rally champion and Peugeot team driver Richard Burns passed away this morning after loosing his battle with a brain tumor. Richard Burns became the first English driver to win the world championship in 2001, while driving for Subaru. He joined the Peugeot rally team in 2002, driving a 206. This was a return to his rallying roots for Richard who started his competition career with Peugeots, winning the 205 GTi challenge series at the first attempt in 1989.
In 2003 he passed out at the wheel of his car during the Wales rally GB and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Despite a long battle and surgery earlier this year the tumor ultimately proved fatal.

Richard recieved a warm welcome at this summers Rally Day at Castle Coombe circuit where he appeared along with a display of his past rally cars.

Our condolences go out to his family along with our appreciation for the excitement he gave to Peugeot fans who saw him wringing every last drop of performance from his 206 at events around the world.
