Peugeots featured in Classic Cars mag

The June 2014 edition of Classic Cars features two classic Peugeots, a 504 Coupe and a 1935 401 Eclipse.

The 504 Coupe is in a group test under the headline of 8 Grandest Tourers. The cars featured are;Jensen Interceptor,Jaguar XJ12C,Citroen SM,BMX 3.0CSI,Mercedes 450 SLC, Fiat 130, Lancia Gamma and of course the 504 Coupe (owned by CPUK member Geoff Goodson). Geoff`s car ia a 2 litre version which was the smallest engined in the test but acquitted itself well against much more powerful models,

Comments made about Geoff`s beautiful car were; "Performance is modest but its demeanour is as delightful as its styling" When compared to the Interceptor, the 504 "is ultimately more capable and a more balanced drive". The article also said " Where the car (504) does score is in it`s ability to cope with bumps and dips whilst steering an accurate course"

Overall the 504 came out very well and is a credit to Geoff and our thanks go to him for supplying his car for the test. Thanks also goes to CPUK 504 Registrar ,Gary Charlton, for all his help both before and during the event.

The 401 Eclipse is a very rare car and is the oldest surviving "tin top" convertible in the world. The car tested belongs to Peugeot and is housed in their museum, L`Aventure Peugeot in Sochaux. What a fabulous car!
