Noted Automotive Designer Paul Bracq Nominated to The Automotive Hall of Fame

Legendary French designer of many cars including the Mercedes 230SL and BMW 320i to be considered for induction in 2007

Novi, Michigan USA 8/14/06: The International Stars Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America announces that the club has submitted nomination papers to place Mr. Paul Bracq into consideration for induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame, located in Dearborn, Michigan. The Automotive Hall of Fame (www.automotivehalloffame.org) is dedicated to preserving the history of mobility by celebrating the creativity, toil and genius of the individual.

Induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame is the greatest single honor bestowed on individuals who have dedicated their lives and careers to the automotive industry. Induction is reserved for individuals who have made a dramatic impact on the development of the automobile or the automotive industry. Inductees of the Automotive Hall of Fame include Henry Ford, Walter P. Chrysler, Gottlieb Daimler, Karl Benz, Louis Renault, William Mitchell, Enzo Ferrari and many others.

Mr. Bracq had a long career in automotive design and styling with Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Peugeot from 1957 until his retirement in 1996. He is credited with many notable designs including the 230SL, the 600 Limo, and 250C for Mercedes and the first generation 320i, 520i and 630CSi for BMW. At Peugeot his work was on interiors. He also helped design France’s famed TGV high speed train, and the BMW R80 motorcycle. In his retirement he continues to create, being a prolific painter and sculptor. Many Mercedes and BMW collectors and aficionados consider Mr. Bracq to be a living legend. He lives in Bordeaux, France.

Nominees for 2007 are submitted in 2006; will be decided in early 2007; and the inductees will be announced at the New York Auto Show in April, 2007. The formal induction ceremony will be held in October, 2007 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dearborn.
