CPUK 30th Anniversary Rally
CPUK's 30th Anniversary National Rally
Alison Budd reports;
Something special is called for when it's a 30th party and CPUK members turned out to support the celebrations at both the Dinner and National Rally.
Donington Park is home to the best collection of Grand Prix cars in the world and provided a splendid location for our rally. With plenty of space available, we were able to show the full range of Club merchandise and regalia for the first time in many years. This certainly seemed to be well received and the Facom tools (invaluable to members with older cars) sales area kept CPUK Secretary Simon Parker busy all day answering questions and selling the specialist items.
Cars ranged from John Barker's 1925 Quadrilette Grand Sport through to Carl Chambers' British Touring Car Championship 306; from Rob Briggs's 202 pick up to Sally Wilson's 404 pick up; from 2 seater cabriolets to 7 and 8 seater family vehicles. And what a selection there was in between these variants! How long ago is it since you saw 2 505 V6s in the same place? It's always exciting to see how wide a selection we get and this year was no exception. We were delighted to see the extremely well supported 406 Coupe Club join us on site.
The cars on display were superbly presented and judging was no easy matter for either members or the committee. However, a few vehicles stood out. Among them, Rob Briggs' 202 which is absolutely superb and fully deserved to collect the Best in Show award. Congratulations to all the trophy winners!
Thank you to all who attended and helped out.Without you, I'd be truly stuck!
