New Members for September/October
Welcome to all our new members. Its good to see Martin Vickers and his 204 join our ranks. These attractive cars were superseded by the 304, ostensibly to improve the styling by bringing it into line with the 504. The original design, as is so often the case, was the cleaner of the two, but is now definitely the rarer.
The 504 Coupé of Mark Tinker is another design classic rarer than the Cabriolet and, surprisingly in our climate, the less sought after of the two. These cars were rallied in V6 form by Peugeot and private entrants in the 1970s (there are at least two replicas lurking in garages in the UK) and there are some magnificent pictures on the Club website of one rallying in the last Classic East African Safari.
It is a real pleasure to welcome Gerry Michelmore and his 1913 Bugatti-designed Type BP3 Bébé (or is it a B3 P1?). The 4 cylinder 855cc engine could propel this little car at speeds up to 60kph (37mph) I guess a speeding ticket would be quite an achievement!
Welcome also to our Rejoiners. Brian Berzowski tells me hes just completing the rebuild of his 403, after having been hit head-on by the less-than considerate driver of a modern. We look forward to hearing more about this tale.
Difficulties with our new database have led to some members experiencing late or, possibly, no renewal reminder. However, no one should have experienced any interruption to their membership. If you are one of these, could I please encourage you to renew quickly to avoid missing out!
Finally, Id like to extend a very big Thank You to Malcolm Gratton who saved the day for us by entering all our Members names and addresses on a new database to enable us to print out the labels for The Peugeotist. He volunteered to do this just as his holiday was approaching, which must have added extra pressure. Thank you, Malcolm.
